Ingushetia being forced to return back to Chechnya.
Medecins du Monde has sent an
emergency medical team to Algeria following the earthquake
which struck the country last week. The team brings medicines
and medical supplies and will carry out an assessment of the
need for medical help.

du Monde returned to Iraq on 12 April. Teams have gone to
Basra, Kirkuk, Badrah and Baghdad to carry out independent
medical assessments and to organise relief operations for

Emergency in Afghanistan
M�decins du Monde once again has expatriates working in Afghanistan.
On the 18th November, a two-person team (a doctor and a coordinator)
crossed the border from Iran and arrived in Herat in the north-west
of the country.

Famine
in Afghanistan
Afghanistan has been affected by a severe drought for three
years now. In June 2001, M�decins du Monde tried to raise
awareness of this humanitarian crisis and the threat to the
Afghan population. Dr Guy Causs� described the dramatic situation
in the Maslakh
camp, outside Herat, in May 2001.
